Mayor Greg Barker

Mayor Greg Barker is a dedicated public servant and proud leader of Copperhill, Tennessee. Taking office in December of 2024, he brings a deep passion for community development and a vision for a prosperous and thriving city.

A lifelong resident of the Copper Basin, Mayor Barker understands the city’s unique character and rich history. He was privileged to attend Copperhill Elementary and is a proud alumnus of Copper Basin High School. Mayor Barker earned his undergraduate degree in History from East Tennessee State University, where he is also a member of the Sigma Chi fraternity. He later pursued higher education, obtaining an MBA in Management from Shorter University.

Mayor Barker has built a successful career in community banking, working for the past decade in commercial special assets. His business and public service background has equipped him with the skills necessary to foster economic growth, enhance city services, and maintain the small-town charm that makes Copperhill special. His experience includes serving as a county commissioner and interning with the Tennessee General Assembly, where he gained valuable insight into state and local government operations.

Under his leadership, the city is focusing on key initiatives such as infrastructure improvements, support for local businesses, and environmental conservation. He believes in a transparent and inclusive government that encourages community involvement and input in decision-making processes.

Mayor Barker is committed to making Copperhill a welcoming place for residents and visitors. Whether working to attract new opportunities, preserve the town’s heritage, or enhance the quality of life for all, he remains steadfast in his dedication to the city’s success.

In his free time, Mayor Barker enjoys spending time with family, exploring the region’s natural beauty, running, hiking, gardening, and promoting his beloved City of Copperhill. He invites all citizens to engage with their local government and join him in building a stronger, more vibrant Copperhill.
